What you bring to the table

The Beck Group is seeking a senior level high-performance individual to join the Finance team to support Beck’s corporate function, as well as seven regional offices. The senior financial analyst will be responsible for providing business related insights that drive the analyzation of financial data, planning and executing the company’s annual budget and quarterly forecasting process, as well as preparing regular and ad-hoc reports for financial decision-making. This position will manage G&A reporting as well as assist Operations in understanding their projects’ financial position and opportunities/risks. The senior financial analyst is a highly visible role blending accounting, financial planning and analysis, as well as risk mitigation in the commercial construction and architecture space. This role has a primary focus on construction G&A expense.

The job involves the following essential functions and responsibilities:

  • Manage companywide budget/forecast process and execution as well as variance analysis and reporting packages that communicate P&L results and a path to reach established financial targets.
  • Lead corporate and regional G&A analysis, diving deep into details to provide actionable insights.
  • Develop and maintain G&A policies and procedures.
  • Participate in quarterly project reviews with the project manager(s) to understand and analyze project costs and drivers that affect project profitability.  Perform project profitability analysis.
  • Review monthly WIP schedules, analyze monthly P&L variances and BIE/CIE.
  • Provide financial projections by coordinating budget/forecast preparation; collecting, analyzing, and consolidating financial information; advising project manager(s) with analysis of data.
  • Prepare ad-hoc financial reports by collecting, analyzing, and summarizing account information and trends as well as special topics as they arise.
  • Generate financial and operational models and dashboards using business intelligence tools.
  • Operates autonomously as a financial subject matter expert within the analytic team and collaborates cross-functionally with all departments.
  • Must be outgoing to plan, organize, and meet with business leaders to establish rapport and partnerships.
  • Analytical, inquisitive mindset with an ability to take analysis to the next level.
  • Strong leadership and critical thinking skills.
  • Independent thinking, and problem-solving skills along with flexibility in working on multiple workstreams.
  • Ability to create solid reports that tie back to source records and understand the nuances of the financial records and systems.
  • Protect the organization's value by keeping sensitive information confidential.
  • Flexibility in rotating within the department and growing within the role and organization.

Who we think will be a great fit

  • Bachelor’s degree in accounting or finance is required.
  • Advanced Degree or Certification such as an MBA, CPA, CFA, CMA, or CCIFP a plus.
  • 8-10 years relevant experience required.
  • Construction and/or Architecture Experience preferred but not required. 
  • Must Have strong in-depth understanding of G&A accounting transactions and highly experienced in advanced MS Excel.
  • Proficiency with electronic accounting systems is preferred (Familiarity with CMiC and FMW is a plus).
  • Understanding of US GAAP, Financial Modeling, ERP, and Forecasting Tools.
  • Must be detail and deadline oriented, possess strong research skills, self-motivated team player with a can-do attitude who brings energy and enthusiasm and ability to work well under pressure.
  • Ability to engage with leadership at all levels with professionalism.
