Description

Inova Center for Personalized Health is looking for a dedicated Radiation Physicist to join the team. This role is Full-Time Monday through Friday Day Shift. Sign on bonus eligible

Job Responsibilities:
 

  • Collaborates with physicians in subject specialty regarding all patient uses of ionizing radiation.
  • Attends any hospital assigned committee such as the Radiation Safety Committee.
  • Maintains a professional working relationship with department directors and Medical Directors.
  • Provides Medical Physics coverage as deemed appropriate to the subject specialty (i.e. Radiation Therapy, Cardiac Cath, etc.).
  • Collaborates with Engineering concerning radiation shield design for all areas of the hospital which utilize ionizing radiation.
  • Oversees the acceptance of testing for new or renovated medical equipment and imaging networks.
  • Performs calculations/measurements to institute new treatment/imaging techniques and to investigate established techniques in greater detail.


Additional Requirements

  • Work Schedule - Full-Time Monday through Friday Day Shift 
  • A master’s degree in Physics or a related field is required, a doctoral degree in Physics or a related field is preferred
  • Minimum 3 years experience in Clinical Medical Physics
  • The American Board of Radiology (ABR) certified required
  • Virginia Inspector within the first two months of hire, but must have submitted the application to the State at time of hire
  • Availability to work outside of normal business hours (nights and weekends) is required
  • Knowledge of scripting is preferred
  • Experience with Raystation treatment planning system is preferred
  • Prior experience with proton therapy is preferred
  • Strong communication skills – both orally and in writing are required
