Our client is looking for Mechanical Engineers based in Calgary Alberta, Canada. You will play a pivotal role in designing, analyzing, and implementing mechanical systems and components while ensuring compliance with Alberta's regulatory framework and engineering codes for our client on multiple energy projects. Collaborating with multidisciplinary teams, you will deliver innovative solutions that meet project requirements and industry standards within Alberta's unique operational context.

Key Responsibilities:

    • Design, load calculation, technical specification for Heating, Ventilation, and Air Conditioning (HVAC), piping, conveyors, fire protection, building automation (BAS), and natural gas systems for Industrial projects. 
    • Utilize CAD software and engineering principles to create detailed designs and technical drawings.
    • Complete understanding of building mechanical engineering requirement, National Building Code Alberta Edition (NBC-AE), ASHRAE, ASPE, NFPA, and CSA standards for building and site design
    • Conduct structural analysis, thermal analysis, and simulations to evaluate the performance and integrity of mechanical systems, ensuring compliance with Alberta's engineering codes and regulations.
    • Coordinate with testing teams to validate designs and verify adherence to Alberta's specifications and standard
    • Oversee the prototyping process and collaborate closely with client teams to ensure feasibility and efficiency in production
    • Provide technical support and troubleshooting assistance, addressing any challenges related to Alberta's regulatory requirements
    • Manage projects from inception to completion, including planning, scheduling, and resource allocation, while adhering to Alberta's regulatory framework and engineering codes.
    • Monitor project progress, identify risks, and implement mitigation strategies to ensure timely delivery and compliance with Alberta's regulatory requirements.
    • Conduct thorough quality inspections and review procedures to uphold high standards of product quality and safety within Alberta's regulatory
    • Collaborate effectively with cross-functional teams, including electrical engineers, software engineers, and project managers, to integrate mechanical systems with overall project requirements within Alberta's regulatory framework.
    • Communicate technical concepts clearly and concisely to stakeholders, providing regular project updates and ensuring alignment with Alberta's specific requirements.
    • Stay informed about emerging technologies, industry trends, and best practices in mechanical engineering, with a focus on their relevance to Alberta's regulatory landscape.
    • Identify opportunities for innovation and process improvement to enhance product performance and competitiveness within Alberta's operating environment

Qualifications and Skills:

  • Bachelor's degree in Mechanical Engineering or related field; Master's degree preferred.
  • 5-10 years of experience in mechanical engineering, with a focus on design, analysis, and project management, preferably within Alberta or similar regulatory environments.
  • Proficiency in CAD software (e.g., SolidWorks, AutoCAD) and engineering analysis tools (e.g., ANSYS, MATLAB), with a demonstrated ability to adapt designs to meet Alberta's specific standards.
  • Strong understanding of mechanical engineering principles, including mechanics, thermodynamics, and materials science, tailored to Alberta's regulatory requirements.
  • Experience with the product development lifecycle, from conceptualization to manufacturing, within Alberta's regulatory context.
  • Excellent problem-solving skills and the ability to apply engineering principles to practical applications within Alberta's unique operational constraints.
  • Effective communication and interpersonal skills for collaborating with diverse teams and stakeholders while navigating Alberta's regulatory framework.
  • Project management experience and familiarity with project management tools and methodologies, with an understanding of their application within Alberta's regulatory environment.
