Role Overview

As a Senior Software Engineer, you will be leading initiatives on an autonomous, high-performing team. You will be the owner of components of the overall Surfside product and be responsible for the delivery of features, mentoring junior members of the team, working with the product team to build our advertising platform, and driving technical excellence. This position will require architectural vision as we build and deploy the next generation of our software.


Responsibilities

  • Identifying and proposing improvements to the current system architecture that emphasize reliability and scalability
  • Working with the product and engineering teams to produce development plans and see through to delivery and success
  • Growing and mentoring the team, ensuring continuity and ongoing career development Contributing to the collaborative development processes within the organization on both product and technical domains


Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree or equivalent practical experience
  • 5+ years of payments/systems engineering experience, primarily backend focused
  • Insights and intrigue in building high performance secure client side applications nested within critical components of partners multi-page and single-page applications
  • Learn quickly: demonstrated ability to quickly understand and absorb new information. Passion for technology and eager to dive-in to figure out how things work
  • Problem solving skills: able to use first principles - using both qualitative and quantitative data - to solve complex problems
  • Leadership: mentor & help organize engineering contributors, work with the product team to gather requirements & measure tradeoffs efficient and productive manner, understanding business logic and be able to translate into appropriate technical solutions
  • Excellent communication skills in English - you can explain complex ideas to technical and non-technical audiences both verbally and in writing


At Surfside we encourage autonomy; teams have complete ownership of their systems including building, running and monitoring. As such, you may be required to be on-call and respond to system alerts should they arise

Location: Remote
Salary Range: Up to $180,000 annually, depending on experience and qualifications
