 The Senior Commercial Portfolio Manager is responsible for managing a complex portfolio of commercial lending relationships, ensuring strong credit quality, client retention, and growth in alignment with the Bank’s strategic objectives. This role serves as a key partner to Relationship Managers, providing advanced credit analysis, structuring, underwriting, and portfolio oversight. The Senior Commercial Portfolio Manager also acts as a mentor and resource to junior portfolio managers and credit analysts, helping to build and maintain a strong credit culture across the organization.



  •  Manage and monitor a portfolio of commercial loans, including C&I, CRE, and specialized lending, ensuring sound credit quality and compliance with Bank policies and regulatory requirements.
  • Perform advanced financial analysis, underwriting, and risk assessments on complex credit requests.
  • Partner with Relationship Managers to structure credit facilities that balance client needs with prudent risk management.
  • Proactively identify, monitor, and resolve potential problem loans; develop strategies to mitigate risk exposure.
  •  Prepare and present credit recommendations and annual reviews to senior management and loan committees.
  •  Work with Relationship Managers to provide high-quality service to commercial clients, addressing credit-related inquiries and ensuring timely responses.
  •  Participate in client and prospect meetings as needed to support new business development efforts with credit expertise.
  • Support relationship growth strategies by analyzing client needs and recommending appropriate banking solutions.
  • Serve as a subject matter expert and mentor for junior portfolio managers and credit analysts, providing training, guidance, and feedback.
  • support a culture of accountability, credit discipline, and continuous learning within the lending team.
  • Lead or participate in special projects, process improvements, and credit initiatives as assigned.
  • Ensure all portfolio management activities comply with regulatory guidelines, internal risk management policies, and audit requirements.
  • Stay informed of industry trends, economic conditions, and regulatory changes that may impact the Bank’s commercial lending practices.
  • Actively stays current on all Bank products, services, procedures, policies, and applicable regulatory and compliance requirements by regularly attending  team meetings, completing mandatory training on schedule, and applying  knowledge to ensure accuracy and compliance in daily operations. 
  • Ensures adherence to federal and state laws, regulations, and bank policies by preventing violations, minimizing risks, and safeguarding the Bank’s interests. 
  • Verifies transactions and account balances, ensuring compliance with bank policies and state and federal regulations and the Bank Secrecy Act (BSA), as applicable to the role.

   


Requirements
  •    Bachelor’s degree in Finance, Accounting, Business, or related field required; advanced degree or formal credit training preferred.
  • Minimum of 7–10 years of progressive experience in commercial credit, portfolio management, or commercial lending, preferably within a community or regional bank.
  • Strong credit analysis, underwriting, and financial modeling skills, with expertise in complex commercial lending structures.
  • Demonstrated ability to manage large and diverse portfolios while maintaining excellent credit quality.
  • Strong leadership and mentoring skills with proven ability to develop junior staff.
  • Excellent communication, presentation, and relationship management skills.
  • High degree of integrity, sound judgment, and ability to make independent decisions

The salary range represents an estimate based on market data for this position. Final compensation decisions are made based on experience, skills, and internal equity to ensure fairness and consistency across our organization.
