The Opportunity:

WSP’s Property & Buildings M&E Team is currently seeking a Senior Mechanical Engineer to join our growing team in the Hamilton office. This position is based in the Southwest Ontario region with options to work from Burlington, Cambridge, Kitchener, London, Windsor and/or St. Catherines offices.

This role would be well suited for an experienced professional with a strong background in HVAC and plumbing systems design, experience in managing complex mechanical engineering projects and who thrives in a collaborative environment and is passionate about delivering innovative engineering solutions.

What you can expect to do here:

  • You will be responsible for leading the engineering design of HVAC and plumbing systems for both new construction and retrofit projects
  • You will lead the design and development of HVAC systems, heating and cooling plants, and plumbing systems. 
  • You will prepare and review technical reports, drawings, and specifications. You will oversee project timelines, budgets, and deliverables, ensuring projects are completed on time and within budget. 
  • You will provide technical guidance and support to junior engineers and other team members. 
  • You will collaborate and coordinate with other engineering disciplines. 
  • You will ensure all engineering work meets quality standards and codes, while ensuring client expectations are met. 
  • You will review and approve technical designs, drawings, and specifications. 
  • You will work closely with other disciplines to develop integrated solutions. 
  • You will maintain and manage relationships with clients, ensuring their needs and expectations are met.

 

What you’ll bring to WSP:

  • A Bachelor’s Degree in Mechanical Engineering
  • Minimum of 10 years’ experience in engineering consulting industry focus on the design of mechanical systems for buildings.
  • A valid PEO license.
  • LEED Accreditation and sustainable design experience is an asset.
  • Strong knowledge of mechanical engineering principles, codes, and standards. Proficiency in relevant software to mechanical design, such as REVIT and HAP.
  • Demonstrated experience in leading the design of mechanical systems across various facility types.
  • Proven ability to lead a mechanical design team across complex multidisciplinary projects.
  • Demonstrated experience in managing projects, including timelines, budgets, and deliverables.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills, with the ability to interact effectively with clients and team members.
  • An ability to work collaboratively.
  • Desire to participate in client management and business development activities.
