Grade UE03: £24,729 - £25,804 per annum pro-rata if part-time

College of Science and Engineering / School of Chemistry

Full-time: 35 hours per week

Fixed-term: for 3 months

 

Please note that while the Employ.ed on Campus programme is open to 2nd, 3rd, and penultimate year undergraduate students, due to the nature of this internship, this opportunity is only available to 3rd and penultimate year undergraduate students from the University of Edinburgh based in the UK.

 2nd-year undergraduate students are not eligible to apply for this opportunity. You also cannot take part if you are a visiting student, or you have already taken part in the programme before.

 

The Opportunity:

The overarching objective of this post is to refresh the delivery of the Chemistry 3 Organic Teaching Labs. To achieve this, the successful candidate will investigate the design and implementation of new experiments, updating the available teaching materials and contribute to the development of new assessment material.

The post holder will receive advanced training in synthetic chemistry and relevant analytical skills including hands-on use of the facilities in the School’s Nuclear Magnetic Resonance Spectroscopy Facility and Analytical Chemistry Instrument Suite.

This post offers an invaluable opportunity to make a meaningful impact on the School of Chemistry’s objectives in the context of Learning and Teaching with a particular focus on improving Student Experience and Sustainability.

This post is full-time (35 hours per week). However, we are open to considering part-time or flexible working patterns. We are also open to considering requests for hybrid working (on a non-contractual basis) that combines a mix of remote and regular on-campus working. The vast majority of work, though, will require hands-on use of on-site facilities.
