Acuren is seeking a Materials Laboratory Technician to support our Engineering Department.
You will be involved in material testing, field work, non-destructive testing, and inspections, while assisting with a variety of engineering projects. With guidance from experienced engineers and supervisors, you will help deliver high-quality results that meet client expectations, stay on schedule, and remain within budget - while producing clear and accurate lab reports.
Position Details:
Location: Richmond, BC Office
Schedule: Monday - Friday, 40 hours per week, with potential for overtime
Rate: Up to $34.00 per hour, depending on certifications and experience

Education & Technical Background:
Technical diploma in Materials, Metallurgy, Chemical, or Mechanical Technology, or a related discipline preferred.
Hands on work experience; previous experience in a laboratory, with welding, grinding, fixturing, mechanical repairs, maintenance, failure analysis, pressure equipment assessment and inspection, heat treating, instrumentation and repair design is preferred.
Background with materials standards and analysis would be an asset.
Industrial codes and standards related to materials, welding, tanks, piping, structures and pressure equipment.
Hands-on work experience required; previous experience in a laboratory or industrial environment is preferred.
Experience with welding, grinding, fixturing, mechanical repairs, maintenance, failure analysis, pressure equipment assessment and inspection, heat treating, instrumentation, or repair design is an asset.
Strong mechanical aptitude, including troubleshooting equipment, working with tools, or performing mechanical / vehicle maintenance.
Proficiency with MS Office applications required.
Valid Class 5 driver’s license with a clean record required.
Strong communication skills (verbal and written) with the ability to work effectively on-site and interact with clients, team members, and supervisors.
Ability to produce clear, accurate, and professional reports.
Comfortable working in both laboratory and field environments.
Demonstrated understanding of responsibilities under the Provincial Occupational Health & Safety Act and Regulations.
Ability to follow ISO systems and Acuren Safety & Quality Management Systems, policies, and procedures.
