GENERAL PURPOSE:


The Sr. IT Financial Analyst will provide IT capital portfolio tracking, reporting and ad hoc analysis for the IT organization.  The Sr. IT Financial Analyst will report to the IT Finance Manager and interact frequently with both IT Leadership and external business partners as well as various finance functions across the organization.  The Sr. IT Financial Analyst will perform monthly capital portfolio analysis that includes monthly project tracking and review of spend against budget, Provide executive level updates on performance against budgets, facilitate monthly capital cash flow forecasting, and perform monthly close activity as required to accurately account for all capital project activity within the portfolio.


The Sr. IT Financial Analyst will also be responsible for compiling data, producing and distributing multiple financial and operational reports to leadership (IT, Store Ops. And Finance) as well as participating in projects to automate these reports.  Finally, the Sr. IT Financial Analyst will complete ad hoc analysis as required to answer questions as they arise.


ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:


Perform critical IT capital portfolio management to include; tracking, reporting and cash flow forecasting activities:

  • Track and reconcile all IT capital portfolio project activity monthly by project under management.
  • Review monthly capital tracking activity by project with each project manager to ensure accuracy and maintain adherence to budgeted spend and proper accounting of capitalized spend.
  • Prepare monthly IT capital portfolio cash flow and variance analysis, providing detailed project spend and project status.
  • Assist in the coordination of the annual IT capital portfolio budgeting process, including analysis used to build financial models and capital related expense considerations (capturing incremental cost associated with added capital – for instance; maintenance and support costs, depreciation), and detailed capital portfolio project templates.
  • Participate in IT capital portfolio road map and 5 year planning exercise.
  • Capital expenditure request (CER) auditing and preparation as needed.  This includes following up on signatures, attending review meetings, and preparing documents for corporate finance.
  • Asset disposal and write off accounting for retired assets relating to new projects or projects that are identified as end of life.

Complete ad hoc analysis as requested to answer questions relating to IT capital portfolio activity

  • Design and execute analysis to answer ad hoc questions using Excel and the PeopleSoft finance application.
  • Summarize analysis to provide clear answers to questions and communicate results to executive leadership.

QUALIFICATIONS AND SPECIAL SKILLS REQUIRED

  • Bachelor's degree required with demonstrated superior college performance (preferably in an analytical field)
  • Minimum 3 - 5 years experience (within a financial analysis and planning group)
  • Strong understanding of GAAP and accounting methodologies
  • Strong analytical ability – must be able to synthesize large amounts of data, be able to error check and reconcile own work and be able to design analysis to answer specific questions
  • A detail oriented approach – must pay close attention to the details and have the drive to get things right
  • Strong organizational skills
  • Strong general ledger and accounts payable research and reconciliation experience, and complete understanding of debits and credits, and accrual based accounting
  • Ability to cope with pressure and changing priorities in a fast paced and dynamic work environment
  • Trustworthy with confidential financial information
  • Reliability (attendance and timeliness) important to ensure consistency of daily reporting for the Company

PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS/ADA:


No unusual physical requirements. Requires no heavy lifting, and nearly all work is performed in a comfortable indoor facility.
Routine deadlines; usually sufficient lead time; variance in work volume seasonal and predictable; priorities can be anticipated; some interruptions are present; travel or other inconveniences have advance notice; involves occasional exposure to demands and pressures from persons other than immediate supervisor.
Job frequently requires sitting, handling objects with hands.
Job occasionally requires standing, walking, reaching, talking, hearing, and lifting up to 10 pounds.
