Job Summary:


As a Vice President, Scandinavia Economist in the Western European team, you will take sole responsibility for our coverage of the Swedish and Norwegian economies. You will analyse economic trends, produce comprehensive macroeconomic forecasts, and track policy developments by central banks and fiscal authorities. You will collaborate with colleagues to highlight regional and cross-country themes, publish regular client notes, and participate in calls, investor trips, and conferences. You will travel to the Nordic region to market our economics view and build out the franchise.

Job Responsibilities:

  • Produce detailed forecasts for the Scandinavian economies
  • Monitor and forecast monetary, fiscal, and political developments
  • Write timely client notes following key data releases and policy changes
  • Engage in frequent client calls and respond to client requests promptly
  • Travel regularly to Scandinavian countries to market the economics view
  • Collaborate with the economics team on common issues and themes
  • Work with other research teams, including FX and rates strategy

     

Required Qualifications, Capabilities, and Skills:

  • Experience in analysing macroeconomic data and forecasting
  • Experience working with large data sets and databases
  • Proficiency in Scandinavian languages to read local media reports
  • Ability to work meticulously and independently with large spreadsheets and databases
  • Good understanding of political, economic, and business developments within the Scandinavian region
  • Exceptional communication skills, with experience in client interactions
  • Intellectual curiosity and interest in macroeconomics and markets
  • Ability to write concisely and explain complex economic relationships
  • Collaborative attitude and strong work ethic

     

Preferred Qualifications, Capabilities, and Skills:

  • Experience with statistical programming languages or packages (such as Eviews, Stata, Python)
  • Familiarity with data platforms such as Haver, Reuters, or Bloomberg
  • Master’s degree or higher in Economics

 

This role encompasses the performance of UK regulated activity. The successful candidate will therefore be subject to meeting UK regulatory requirements in the assessment of fitness, propriety, knowledge and competence (as assessed by the Firm) and (where appropriate) approval by the UK Financial Conduct Authority and/or the Prudential Regulation Authority to carry out such activities.
