DescriptionWe are seeking a motivated and detail-oriented Part Qualified Financial Analyst to join the Finance Team supporting Pathology First on a 12-month fixed-term maternity cover contract.
This is an excellent opportunity for an ambitious finance professional looking to develop within a fast-paced healthcare environment, contributing to financial reporting, analysis, budgeting, and operational support across multiple sites.
ResponsibilitiesFinancial Reporting & Analysis
- Prepare and analyse monthly management accounts.
- Conduct revenue, margin, cost, variance, and trend analysis.
- Perform operating overhead analysis and balance sheet reconciliations.
- Post month-end journals and support the month-end close process.
- Maintain fixed asset registers, prepayments, and lease schedules.
- Perform detailed departmental reviews with Operations Managers.
Budgeting & Forecasting
- Assist with budget preparation and quarterly/annual schedules.
- Provide variance analysis and feedback to budget holders.
- Support preparation of reconciliations and financial schedules.
Operational & Transactional Finance
- Create sales invoices and manage credit control.
- Liaise with suppliers and outsourced accounts payable providers.
- Support procurement system data management (price updates, stock variances, queries).
- Query and approve purchase orders.
- Assist with weekly stock counts and inventory management.
- Support month-end and year-end closing processes.
Audit & Compliance
- Assist with statutory audit requirements.
- Maintain accurate, reliable financial documentation.
- Ensure compliance with accounting standards and internal controls.
Team Support
- Provide cover and support to the Management Accountant.
- Support the Accounts Assistant when required.
- Participate in continuous professional development (CPD).
QualificationsEssential
- Part Qualified Accountant (ACCA, CIMA or equivalent) or Qualified by Experience (QBE).
- Strong numeracy skills with advanced Excel capability.
- Good knowledge of bookkeeping and accounting standards.
- Excellent attention to detail and organisational skills.
- Ability to work under pressure in a fast-moving environment.
- Strong communication skills with the ability to explain financial information to non-finance colleagues.
- Commercially aware, proactive, and results-driven.
Desirable
- Healthcare sector experience.
- Experience preparing budgets and business cases.
- Understanding of cash flow projections and financial statements.
- Knowledge of stock systems and inventory processes.
- Basic knowledge of auditing standards, VAT, PAYE, and corporation tax.
- Experience using SAGE 200.
