EY-Parthenon – Strategy and Execution – Economist - Senior Associate-Consultant

The opportunity

EY-Parthenon’s unique combination of transformative strategy, transactions and corporate finance delivers real-world value – solutions that work in practice, not just on paper. Benefiting from EY’s full spectrum of services, we’ve reimagined strategic consulting to work in a world of increasing complexity.

With deep functional and sector expertise, paired with innovative AI-powered technology and an investor mindset, we partner with CEOs, Boards, Private Equity and Governments every step of the way – enabling you to shape your future with confidence.

EY‑Parthenon’s Strategy and Execution Macroeconomics Team is seeking an economist to support macroeconomic and sectoral analysis across a range of client engagements and thought‑leadership initiatives. This role is well‑suited for candidates with approximately two years of professional experience who are looking to deepen their exposure to applied macroeconomics, sectoral forecasting, and consulting‑oriented economic analysis. The economist will work closely with senior economists and EY‑Parthenon engagement teams, contributing rigorous economic insights that inform client strategy, executive decision‑making, and external publications.

Your key responsibilities

Your responsibilities will include analyzing US economic data, Federal Reserve updates, and policy announcements to create clear, well-structured analyses for client deliverables, internal briefings, and external publications. Additionally, you will support sector-level modeling and forecasting across a diverse range of industries. You will leverage quantitative and econometric techniques, working with macroeconomic and sectoral datasets using Excel and statistical software such as EViews, R, Python, or Stata.

This role requires handling time-sensitive requests and collaborating closely with senior economists and cross-functional stakeholders to communicate your findings effectively. Additionally, you will partner with EY-Parthenon engagement teams to contribute to client proposals, project analyses, and presentations. If you thrive in a dynamic environment and enjoy translating complex economic data into actionable solutions for clients, this opportunity will allow you to further develop your expertise in applied macroeconomics and consulting.

Skills and attributes for success

  • Strong foundation in macroeconomics and applied microeconomics.
  • Demonstrated ability to work independently on economic analysis and data tasks, with guidance from senior economists.
  • Comfort translating economic analysis into concise narratives for non‑technical audiences.
  • Proficiency in creating client-ready charts and visuals to accompany analysis
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills.
  • High attention to detail and strong analytical judgment.
  • Collaborative mindset and ability to work effectively across teams.

To qualify for the role, you must have

  • Master’s degree in economics, applied economics, econometrics, or a related field.
  • Approximately 18 months of relevant professional experience in economic research, consulting, forecasting, policy analysis, or a related analytical role.
  • Hands‑on experience working with macroeconomic or sectoral economic data.
  • Proficiency in Excel and at least one statistical or econometric tool (e.g., EViews, R, Python, Stata).
  • Strong quantitative, analytical, and problem‑solving skills.
  • You must either reside in or be in a commutable distance to your office location for this position.
  • The ability and willingness to travel and work in excess of standard hours when necessary. In certain circumstances, travel may be required beyond your work location based on client and project needs.

Ideally, you will have

  • Experience contributing to economic forecasts or scenario analysis.
  • Familiarity with US macroeconomic indicators, monetary policy, and economic data releases.
  • Exposure to client‑facing analysis or consulting‑style deliverables.
  • Experience supporting presentations or written research for senior stakeholders.
  • Interest in applying economics to business strategy and decision‑making.
  • Certified Business Economist® qualification.
  • Knowledge of how to leverage firm-approved AI tools in a business setting, including Microsoft Copilot.

What we look for

We are looking for economists who combine strong technical skills with clear communication and practical judgment. The ideal candidate is a strong team player who can manage multiple priorities, adapt to evolving client needs, and contribute thoughtfully to high‑impact economic analysis and insights.
