The A. Linwood Holton Governor's School is seeking applicants to fill a full-time Dual Enrollment (DE) Biology and/or Chemistry teacher vacancy.  The Governor's School works with five community colleges, 18 school divisions, and E&H University HEALS program (lab school) to provide dual enrollment courses to motivated and talented high school sophomores, juniors and seniors.  The Governor's School's DE Biology and DE Chemistry classes are taught as synchronous virtual classes.  The position being advertised will work half day with the HEALS program and teach in person part of the time.  ALHGS is based at the Southwest Virginia Higher Education Center in Abingdon, VA.  The Emory & Henry University HEALS program is taught at the Southwest Virginia Higher Education Center in Abingdon and the Emory & Henry School of Health Sciences in Marion, VA.

 

Summary of Qualifications:

  • Full-time teaching position.
  • Must be eligible to meet requirements for community college credentialing for teaching Biology and/or Chemistry.  Master's degree in the subject area or a master's degree in a closely related discipline with a minimum of eighteen (18) graduate semester hours in the subject area from a regionally-accredited higher education institution is required. 
  • Teaching experience at the high school and/or college level is preferred.
  • Strong technology skills preferred.
  • Passion for teaching content and students is required.

 

Reports to: Director of the A. Linwood Holton Governor's School

 

Starting Pay will be based on the Washington County Public School salary scale.
